Have you ever craved to have a look at all your MF investments in one place? If yes, we are glad to inform you that it takes only a couple of clicks to do this.

Read on!

Earlier last year, CAMS and KFfinTech came together to provide “great convenience” to investors by allowing them to see a consolidated view of their portfolio via a CAS report. If you have registered an email address in your folios across Funds serviced by RTAs such as CAMS, KFintech, and FTAMIL, you can use this Mailback Service to obtain a consolidated PDF Account Statement at your registered email address”

Well, wait!

Was that a handful?

If you didn’t understand all those weird abbreviations above, please continue reading or jump to here.

CAS, CAMS, RTAs, KFinTech, AMC — what do they all mean?

An Asset Management Company (AMC) is the firm that collects money (funds) from you (and others) and invests these funds in investments including stocks (and bonds etc). They do so in order to gain real returns for you. There are 44 AMCs in India.

As millions of people invest in MFs through AMC, there is a hell of a task required in bookkeeping and recording maintenance. Why would an AMC handle this if its skill is to grow a fund by investing in the market and not in bookkeeping? This is where a Registered and Transfer Agent (RTA) comes to AMC’s aid. An RTA acts as a mediator between AMC and you (investors). AMCs hire RTAs to maintain proper records of essential investor data such as account balances and transactions.

RTA is a private entity and anyone can become RTA after mandatory registration with SEBI. Hence, it might have become obvious to you that investors’ data are managed by not a single entity but many different RTAs. There are 350+ RTAs in India. However, 2 major RTAs account for 95%+ market. These are CAMS and KFinTech.

Hence, if they come together and provide a single report for an individual investor, all of us would be better off by getting access to a consolidated report of all our MF investments. And that’s exactly what has happened. CAMS and KFfinTech came together to provide “great convenience” to investors by allowing us to see a consolidated view of their portfolio via a Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) report.

How to get the CAS report?

Now that we know that there is a “CAS report” and we could access them, let us see how to get the report. And this is where the fun begins. As with almost every good thing executed badly, a CAS report is hard to retrieve and even harder to analyze. This is because we need to navigate through torn-out and unintuitive web pages to get the report. And the report is received in a dense layout in a PDF format that’s hardly readable. And this is where we could help you.

Let’s see how it works!
